Lisa's Story
I'm not hard to find. I'm still living in Brandon (thankfully its has built up since we were in high school). Living in Brandon allows me the opportunity to run into old classmates from time to time. Although my memory is failing with remembering faces, I can still remember names. So if I run into you and act like I don't know who the hell you are, please forgive me and tell me your name.
I recently ran into Coach Perez at the gym. Had no idea who this old bald guy was that was staring at me. He came over and introduced himself and it clicked. He asked me what I have been doing since high school and I told him I was married at 19, had two boys, one in college and worked with my husband in his law office. He said to me, "I thought you would have done something better with your life". Of course, at the time, I understood what he meant and that he was just trying to say he thought alot of me. However, when I went home, I pondered on his comment and wondered if I should had done more.
Well, I have been married 23 years and have 2 sons, one 19 year old in college (one day will be a lawyer) and one 15 year old who keeps me on my toes. My husband is an attorney and I'm his office manager (so I'm the boss) Our office is located in the old TECO building on Parsons and Robertson. lot and scuba dive. We have been to some wonderful places. We have been to Italy, Australia, Hawaii, Cabo, all over the Caribbean, just to name a few places. Someone once told me you shouldn't wait till you retire to travel, you should travel young when you have the energy for faraway places. We have energy. For now.
If I was quick enough on my toes to respond to Mr. Perez, I would have told him, I have done everything I want to do in life. I raised two boys that are going to be wonderful men and husbands one day. I have managed to stay married to the same man for 23 years. I have everything and more than I could ask for, not just a jaguar in my garage, a house on a lake with a game room, home gym, bocce ball court, putting green, koi pond, outdoor kitchen, two decks, or a second home on the river, with a brand new boat and 2 jet skis attached to my dock, free time and resources to travel whereever and whenever I want to. I could have mentioned all these things, but they are merely material and unimportant. What really makes me feel content is my family, my health and friends.
Life has treated me pretty well. I've been blessed. Why have I been so lucky? I don't know. I have great friends, good health (still even have my 20-20 eyesight, no reading glasses needed for this woman) and consider life an awesome adventure.
